There are many things to see and do in the area or just a short drive from here. Please see the about page. We also put brochures into the gites to help you with a few suggestions and you will find previous guests have written in the guest books things that they found and thought were worth sharing.

Collorec has a supermarket which also sells fresh bread and opens Sunday mornings, there is also a restaurant and a bar with a pool table and post office which opens in the mornings.

During July there is a fete at the Chapelle Sainte Marguerite that attracts people from miles around and is known locally as one of the best. These feast days are traditional, a meal in the evening is followed by traditional Breton dancing

10km from here is the pretty town of Huelgoat, which has shops, restaurants and a hotel. It also has a supermarket and petrol station.
Huelgoat is famous for its huge granite boulders and ancient forest. Here you will find many beautiful walks through the woodlands and beside the lake and an outdoor swimming pool. fishing is also available in the lake.

Chateauneuf de Faou has several restaurants and bars and a couple of supermarkets and there are nice easy walks along the Nantes Brest Canal as well as boat trips.

Horse riding is available at several stables nearby

Morlaix is also not too far away, this ancient town which was once a large port has museums shops and a large market.


If you want a day at the beach there are some beautiful beaches along the west coast (45 mins drive) and they are never too busy. Or you can travel north to a huge selection on the other coast.


Dournenez is an old fishing port and specializes in lobsters and sardines which can be bought in the indoor fish market. There is also a huge boat museum which stretches along the banks of the river where craftsmen can be seen working


Within an hours drive there is the beautiful ancient walled port of Concarneau, also Locronan a heritage village which has been used as a backdrop for films because of its beauty.


Pont Aven is famous for the artists who flock there to paint it as there are many churches famous for their sculptures and pretty villages just to visit.


The Nantes Brest Canal is close and offers the opportunity for walking, fishing, cycling or a boat trip.

The larger town of Carhaix is 20km from here and here you can find roman aqueducts and also a large indoor pool with a flume. There is quite a good selection of shops and large supermarkets here with a market on Saturday mornings. There is also a white water canoeing centre here.


South of here there is Quimper which is very pretty old City with quaint cobbled streets, medieval buildings which house many shops and restaurants. The pottery of the region - Faience is also produced here and visits can be made to the factory.


The city of Brest is approximately 1 hours drive with a large shopping area and many restaurants. There is a large aquarium that is worth a visit.
